Each session is intuitively and compassionately approached — guided by what your body is asking for on that day. These modality names offer a general framework, not a fixed formula. The work is relational first, technical second.

Lauren Domasig performing Swedish massage

Long, flowing strokes that ease tension and invite the nervous system into rest. The foundational language of therapeutic touch.

Swedish massage works with the whole body through effleurage, petrissage, and gentle tapotement — a full vocabulary of touch designed to improve circulation, release surface tension, and create the conditions for deep rest. It is often the right starting point, and for many people, it remains the most nourishing choice session after session.

Lauren Domasig performing deep tissue massage

Sustained, intentional pressure that reaches the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. For chronic tension, old holding patterns, and bodies that carry a lot.

Deep tissue work is not about force — it is about patience and precision. Slow, focused pressure releases the layers of tension that have settled in over time. This modality is especially useful for areas of chronic holding, postural patterns, and stress that has made a home in the body. The goal is always release, not endurance.

Specialized bodywork adapted for the pregnant body. A deep honoring of the transformation underway.

Prenatal massage uses side-lying positioning, careful attention to contraindications, and adapted pressure to support the body through pregnancy. It addresses the aches of a changing center of gravity, the tension of carrying new life, and the emotional weight of becoming. Every trimester brings different needs — sessions are adapted to exactly where you are.

Lauren Domasig performing postpartum massage

Gentle, restorative care for the body in the weeks and months after birth. Rest and restoration for those who are now the ones doing the holding.

The postpartum body has just done something extraordinary — and often immediately becomes responsible for another person's care. This offering creates space for the person who just gave birth to receive. Gentle, nourishing touch that addresses the physical demands of new parenthood: the shoulder and neck tension of feeding, the back strain of carrying, the exhaustion held everywhere at once.

Thoughtful, boundaried therapeutic work for young bodies. Adapted pressure, age-appropriate communication, and caregiver involvement throughout.

Young bodies carry tension too — from sports, from growth, from the emotional weight of being young in a complex world. Sessions for minors are adapted in pressure, pacing, and communication. A caregiver is present throughout. The session is led by the young person's comfort and consent at every step.

Massage is so much more than luxurious self-care — although we love that too. In my view, I see massage as preventative healthcare. Below are only some of the conditions of clients that I have worked with. Some of these conditions are experienced briefly, some of them are lifelong. In whatever case it may be, it is always my goal and intention to provide a safe space, a healing moment, a brief breath of relief.

Don’t see your experience here? Please reach out anyway. This list is a starting point, not a limit. I’m not a medical provider and I don’t claim to treat or cure — but I believe in showing up informed, asking good questions, and working within my scope with honesty. When something is beyond what massage can safely address, I’ll tell you directly and help you find who can.

Conscious Exploration
Roots

Healing inspired by ancestral wisdom

This practice is in honor of the spirit of the Babaylan — the revered healers of the Philippines whose ancient practices are still in existence today. These healers hold their communities through touch, wisdom, and deep presence.

The Babaylan practice hilot — the ancestral Filipino healing touch. This is bodywork rooted not in technique alone but in relationship, presence, and the understanding that healing happens through connection, not upon a body in isolation.

The heart behind Lupa Held is not to claim the title of Babaylan or even the practice of hilot. Rather, it’s allowing the same energy and intentionality towards healing bodywork to be a guiding light. It is reclamation of and reconnection to heritage. Those of us in the diaspora who yearn for and commit to this reconnection call ourselves Binabaylan — honoring the healing lineage of our ancestors carried on through us.

Etymology

The meaning behind the name

Lupa

In Tagalog, Lupa is the word for earth, the ground itself, the soil from which life bursts forth. It is the foundation that receives everything that falls, roots everything that grows, and holds everything that is built upon it. Lupa is the substance from which our bodies are crafted.

Held

To be held is one of the most fundamental human needs — and one of the most frequently unmet. It is not just physical. To be held is to be seen without judgment, supported without condition, kept safe without having to earn it first.

Lupa Held

Together, the name says: held by the earth. Embraced by something ancient, patient, and unconditional. Our own bodies — being made of earth — are also conduits of holding, of protecting, of supporting.

Lupa Held is the ground holding me, safe-keeping you, supporting us; earth holding and calling back to herself in all forms, remembering her true nature.

Who Is Lupa Held

Hi, I'm Lauren

Lauren Domasig — Licensed Massage Therapist, Nashville TN

Lauren Domasig

Licensed Massage Therapist · Nashville, TN

TN LMT License #13065

I didn’t plan to end up here. But damn, if I’m not forever grateful for it. Born and raised in Texas, my love of music drew me to Nashville a decade ago — little did I know it would lead me to building a healing practice. This work has changed how I view the world in the best way possible.

I am a lover of learning, of the arts, of joyful and conscious movement, of this beautiful magnificent earth we get to call home. Amidst all the chaos of the world, I cling to what I know in my soul and in my bones: each one of us holds the capacity to heal, to love, to restore, to renew. I enjoy tapping into that knowledge in its many forms, and I strive to help you tap into it as well.

Training & Credentials

I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Tennessee for 7 years, graduating from Nashville School of Massage Therapy and gaining licensure in 2019. Since then, I have honed my touch to lead with conscious attunement to the body, approaching my work with care and intention and a sense of gentle collaboration.

In my work, I utilize a mix of modalities, truly honing into what the body needs at that moment. These modalities include Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, prenatal & postpartum, bodywork for minors, and Ashiatsu (which I hope to offer soon when I have a private studio space). My areas of interest for continuing education to come include hilot (Filipino healing touch), intraoral and jaw work, myofascial release, and trauma-informed bodywork. So many things to learn!

What I Bring to the Table

My ancestors are being pretty pointed with how to say this, so here’s to honoring them in the most authentic way I can. 🥂

As someone who identifies as a woman with a mixed ethnic heritage spanning the Philippines, England, Scotland, and other European regions, who is also a born U.S. citizen, this work that I offer asks what it means to decolonize bodywork and healing. This is not a destination I have arrived at; it is a lifelong unfolding.

My Filipino ancestors especially have been guiding me in wisdom and care through this journey, and they seek to be honored and remembered for their healing work. This is the force and responsibility I bear within my own body for this practice. This is what is felt on the table and in session. When you choose Lupa Held, you are received by this same force that knows, in body and bone, what it means to truly be held.

Booking & Logistics

Lupa Held is based in Nashville and serves the greater Nashville area, including surrounding counties. Regional and statewide events are available on request. Travel fees may apply depending on distance — all details are discussed openly during consultation.

All bookings begin with a consultation. Reach out through the contact form on the Get in Touch tab, and I’ll be in touch within 48 business hours to connect. There’s no online booking portal — every session starts with a real conversation first.

Occasionally, yes — depending on availability. Same-day requests are welcome but not guaranteed, and require that a new client consultation has already taken place. The best way to check is to reach out directly by phone at (615) 559-8255. For the most consistent availability, booking a few days to a week in advance is ideal.

It means we talk before we book. Every new client begins with a brief consultation — a conversation about what you’re looking for, what your body is navigating, any health considerations, and what session length and modality might serve you best. It’s also an opportunity for both of us to make sure we’re a good fit.

A 6×9 foot area is sufficient. If you’re unsure whether your space works, mention it in your inquiry and we’ll figure it out together.

Yes — table, linens, oils, bolsters, everything needed for a full session comes with me. Your only job is to be there and receive.

The Session

Drink water, have a light snack or meal at least an hour beforehand, and try not to rush. Wear or have comfortable clothing nearby for after. That’s really it — arrive as you are.

A brief check-in at the start — how you’re feeling, any areas to focus on or avoid, any updates since your intake form. I’ll then leave the room to allow you to undress to your comfort level and get settled on the table. Once we begin, I’ll check in periodically about pressure and comfort. You don’t have to do anything except breathe and let your body receive. Some people talk, some people sleep, most land somewhere in between — all of it is welcome.

Drink plenty of water — bodywork moves things, and hydration helps your body process that. Rest if you can. Avoid intense exercise for the rest of the day. You might feel deeply relaxed, a little tender in areas that were worked, or emotionally lighter than you expected. All of that is normal. Give your body the rest of the day to integrate.

Hydrate generously. A warm bath or shower feels wonderful — Epsom salts are a great addition. Gentle stretching the day after can help maintain the release. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, or intense physical output immediately after a session. Notice what your body is telling you — sometimes the work continues long after you leave the table.

Your consent and boundaries are respected throughout our entire time together — always. During the brief intake before your session we’ll discuss any areas to avoid or approach with extra care. You also have the option to give or withdraw consent at any time during the session, no explanation needed. Typically, areas that require additional consent include the scalp, face, pectorals, abdomen, glutes, and feet. Proper draping is maintained throughout the session to ensure your comfort and safety at every moment.

Well-behaved pets and children are welcome in the room during your session — so long as it’s not disruptive to you. It’s your space and your time, and if having them nearby supports your comfort, I’m here for it. If you’d prefer a quieter environment, having a second adult present to keep little ones or curious animals occupied is always a good idea.

Health & Access

Yes — with adaptations. Prenatal massage is one of the offerings I’m most passionate about. I work with clients in all trimesters using side-lying positioning, careful attention to contraindications, and modified pressure. If you’ve been told by your provider to avoid massage, please follow their guidance and let’s talk. Otherwise — your body is doing profound work, and it deserves support.

Quite possibly yes. Take a look at the Conditions tab under Massage — it lists some of what I’ve worked with. If you don’t see your condition there, reach out anyway. I’ll always be honest with you about whether massage is appropriate for your situation, and if it isn’t, I’ll help you find who might be.

Yes — with a caregiver present throughout the entire session, no exceptions. Sessions for minors are adapted in pressure, pacing, and communication to be age-appropriate and led by the young person’s comfort and consent at every step.

A limited number of sliding-scale spots are held for those for whom cost is a genuine barrier to care. No explanation is required — just reach out and let me know. Community-rate sessions are held within a 30-minute travel radius.

I accept all major credit and debit cards, HSA and FSA cards, ACH bank transfers, Venmo, and cash. Payments are processed securely through Helcim. I can also send a secure invoice link if you’d prefer to enter your own payment information, and receipts are always available upon request.

No — not in the traditional sense. Helcim uses tokenization, which means your actual card number is never stored anywhere in my system. Instead it’s converted into a secure token that can’t be used outside of Helcim’s encrypted environment. Helcim is a PCI Level 1 certified payment processor — the highest security standard in the payment industry — and as a merchant using their platform, your payment data is protected by that same infrastructure.

These policies exist to protect everyone involved — you, me, and the integrity of the work itself. They aren’t fine print to scroll past. They’re part of how Lupa Held operates with honesty and care. Please read them.

Cancellation & Missed Appointment

Life happens — I genuinely understand that. If you need to cancel, all I ask is 24 hours notice so I can offer that time to someone else. Cancellations inside that window are charged 50% of the session rate.

Missed Appointment: If I show up and you’re not there — whether that means an unanswered door, an unreachable number, or an address that didn’t get to me correctly — that appointment is charged in full.

Confidentiality

Everything you share with me stays with me. Your health history, what we talk about in session, your intake form — all of it is stored securely and never shared with third parties except as required by law. Your session notes are yours. They are available to you upon request at any time, and especially should you need them for legal, medical, or insurance purposes.
